Edo Election: IPAC congratulates Okpebholo

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, on his victory in the Saturday’s Edo governorship election.
IPAC, in a statement issued by its national publicity secretary, Chinyere Kalu, in Abuja on Monday, described the successful conduct of the election as victory for democracy.
The council said that the good people of Edo had spoken with their votes and expressed their confidence in Mr Okpebholo to lead the state.
IPAC urged the governor-elect to be magnanimous in victory, reach out to other contestants and run an inclusive government that would transform the state and improve the people’s well-being.
“The winner-takes-it-all syndrome has been the bane of Nigerian politics and government.
“This should be jettisoned in the quest for sustainable democracy and development in the country,” it said.
The council urged all aggrieved political parties and their candidates to explore appropriate mechanisms to channel their grievances and seek redress.
“Council urges INEC to improve on its Edo governorship performance in the November 2024 Ondo gubernatorial election.
“There is no substitute for credible elections. The people’s votes must count and their mandate respected by all stakeholders in the political process,” it said.
IPAC congratulated the people of Edo on the success of the election.
“Democracy has come to stay in Nigeria, together we will deepen it to yield its fruits and dividends to citizens.” it added
