EFCC declares ex-Buhari minister Sadiya Farouq wanted for alleged fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over alleged abuse of office and diversion of public funds.
Ms Farouq served as minister between 2019 and 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a notice published along with a photograph of Ms Farouq on Saturday, Dele Oyewale, the spokesman of the agency urged members of the public to provide useful information about the former minister’s whereabouts through its offices nationwide and designated contact numbers.
“Umar Farouq, 52, is from Zamfara State, with her last known address listed as EN008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja,” the agency said.
Ms Farouq is being investigated over the alleged diversion of about N37 billion during her tenure as minister.
