Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is plotting to freeze the state accounts ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The governor spoke in a statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, on Wednesday.

He also alleged that the anti-graft commission was planning to freeze accounts of top government functionaries.

“The plot to freeze the state government accounts is meant to paralyze government activities ahead of the August 15th governorship election,” Mr Adeleke.

The governor noted that there was no legal basis or justification for any push to freeze the state government accounts.

He said the EFCC has no legal powers to freeze the account of a state government.

Some developments in the state made the governor to accuse the police of partisanship.

He also urged President Bola Tinubu to ensure credible poll as members of his party; the All Progressives Congress, were believed to be enjoying federal backing.

Recall that The Gazette earlier reported that the governorship poll had gathered momentum amid pre-election violence weeks to the poll.
