Egypt raises civil servants’ minimum wage
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi has decided to raise the minimum wage of government employees.
Egypt’s presidential spokesperson, Bassam Rady, disclosed this on Monday.
Mr. Rady said in a statement that Mr. Sisi gave the directive for the wage increment at a meeting with the prime minister and finance minister late on Monday.
The Egyptian president ordered the cabinet to raise civil servants’ monthly minimum wage to 2,400 Egyptian pounds ($153) from 2,000 Egyptian pounds, Rady added.
Mr. Sisi also decided to increase pensions by 13 percent.
The president was briefed on the draft budget for the 2021-2022 fiscal year during the meeting.
