Eid-el-fitr: FRSC deploys 1200 officials, 20 patrol vehicles in Ondo

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ondo State Command, said it deployed 1,200 operatives and 20 patrol vehicles to ensure hitch-free movement during the eid el- fFitr celebration in the state.

The state Commander, Dr Samuel Ibitoye, made this known during an interview on Saturday in Akure.

Mr Ibitoye, who said that those deployed were officers and special marshals, disclosed that the patrol teams would be on 24-hour rescue services on the roads before, during and after the celebration.

According to him, five ambulance vehicles and power bikes will be at flashpoints such as Ikare-Akoko, Owo, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo and Ore-Lagos highway.

Mr Ibitoye, while noting that the command would be on advocacy through the radio and television stations during the festivity period, advised motorists to make use of FRSC Mobile App for easy movement from one point to other.

He noted, “We are going to deploy over 600 officers and men at the different points of Ondo State, and also deploy 592 special marshals. All together we are going to have 1,200 staff of the corps. All the 1,200 staff will be in strategic places to enforce road sign rules and regulations and to also standby if there is any incident so that they can rescue Nigerians and get their life’s sustain on the road. We are also going to collaborate with different organisations to ensure that we have smooth traffic flow on highways. More also, to collaborate with the Police, NSCDC, NDLEA, SSS, military, the Fire Service, as much as we are going to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Works, if there is any case of diversion in construction site. So, we are doing all these for not to record any accident on our highways and create smooth traffic flow for Nigerians to move from one point to other.’’

He appealed to motorists to always be patient on the road and avoid reckless driving towards having a crash-free celebration.

He stated, “I want to appeal to people to be patient on the road. They should avoid speeding, overloading and avoid drunk driving. They should abide by the rules and regulations on the road so that at the end of the day they will arrive at their destination without any hiccups.’’
