Eid-el-Fitr: Gov. Yusuf donates food items to Kano inmates in custodial centres

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has donated food items and 14 cows to inmates across 13 custodial centres in the state to celebrate the eid-el-fitr.
This is contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Kano State Command, CSC Musbahu Kofar-Nasarawa, on Thursday in Kano.
The statement said Mr Yusuf made the donation through the Chairperson of the Kano State Committee for the Prerogative of Mercy, Azumi Namadi-Bebeji.
The food items included 14 cows, 82 bags of 50kg rice, 38 jerry cans of 25kg cooking oil, and other condiments.

Ms Namadi-Bebeji said the gesture was aimed at enhancing the welfare of inmates during the festive period.
She said the donation underscored the administration’s commitment to compassion, inclusivity and support for vulnerable groups, including inmates in custodial centres.
She urged the inmates to use the eid-el-fitr period to pray for peace, unity and sustained development in Kano and the country at large.
Ms Namadi-Bebeji also encouraged the inmates to remain law-abiding and hopeful, assuring them of the government’s continued concern for their well-being.

She reaffirmed the state government commitment to humane governance and inclusive service delivery, particularly during religious celebrations.
The Controller of Corrections, Kano State Command, Ahmed Yusuf-Lakpene, received the items on behalf of the inmates.
He thanked the state government for the gesture and its sustained support towards the welfare of inmates making them feel part of the society.
Mr Yusuf-Lakpene also on behalf of the Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, commended the government for its continued partnership with the Nigerian Correctional Service.
