Kano residents on Friday celebrated Eid-el-Fitr peacefully, following tightened security measures.

Security operatives were stationed throughout the city, ensuring calm at prayer grounds, on roads, and in public places.

The tight security contributed significantly to the orderly conduct of the day’s activities.

The festive mood was evident as residents stepped out in elegant attire to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Families and friends gathered to offer prayers and express gratitude to Allah for the successful completion of the fasting period.

Acts of kindness and generosity also defined the day, as many residents shared meals with neighbours, relatives, and well-wishers.

This reflects the spirit of unity and compassion associated with Ramadan.

One of the residents, Abubakar Salihu of the Unguwar Wanbai area of the city, praised security personnel for their professionalism during and after the prayers.

He said the atmosphere was calm, with residents moving peacefully to their homes after prayers.

‘’It is a testament to the security agencies’ effectiveness,” he said.

Another resident, Musa Ibrahim of Zoo Road, expressed delight with the peaceful atmosphere in the state.

Mr Ibrahim said it was heartwarming that residents celebrated Eid-el-Fitr in a peaceful and joyous atmosphere.

‘’This is because of heightened security measures deployed across the eight metropolitan local government areas of the state,” he said.

Also, two residents, Mohammad Usman and Abdullahi Fagge, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the Sallah festivities.

They described the atmosphere as calm and well-coordinated and commended both the security agencies and the residents for their cooperation.

Despite a slight rise in transportation fares across the metropolis, some residents visited their loved ones and recreational centres.
