Eid-el-Kabir: Traditional ruler urges Nigerians to embrace agriculture
Usman Abdullahi, the Ohimege Opanda of Umaisha in Nasarawa State, has urged Nigerians to embrace agriculture to ensure food sufficiency in the country.
Mr Abdullahi, a first-class traditional ruler, made the call on Wednesday while addressing people shortly after the Eid-el-Kabir prayers in Umaisha, Toto Local Government Area of the state.
He said embracing agriculture would not only boost food production but also create jobs, generate revenue, and improve the standard of living of the people.
The traditional ruler expressed delight over the massive turnout of worshippers at the Eid ground and thanked God for a peaceful and successful Sallah celebration in the area.
He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule, the chairman of Toto Local Government Area, as well as groups, individuals, and non-governmental organisations for their contributions toward promoting peace in the area.
Mr Abdullahi called for the sustenance of peace and urged residents to continue to coexist peacefully and tolerate one another, irrespective of differences in affiliation.
Also speaking,Ibrahim Sa’ad, member representing Umaisha/Ugya Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly; Salihu Hasheem, Administrator of Toto LGA and Umar Idris, Permanent Secretary, Government House Administration, stressed the need for unity, peace, and development in the area.
They commended the royal father for his effective leadership and prayed for God’s continued protection and blessings upon him.
The officials also assured the traditional ruler of their loyalty and support at all times.
They urged the people to embrace peace, unity, and love for one another, while supporting leaders and government policies to attract more democratic dividends to the area.
Earlier, the Deputy Chief Imam of Umaisha, Yusuf Idris, who presided over the Eid prayers, called on Muslims to embrace peace and make sacrifices for societal development.
Mr Idris also prayed for unity, peace, progress, and development in the country, as well as for leaders at all levels to succeed.
