The Oyo and Gombe governments have charged all Muslim faithful to use the occasion of the 2025 Eid al-Mawlid to pray for the governments at the various levels.

The state governments gave the charge in their goodwill messages, congratulating the Muslim faithful for witnessing the day, and underscored the spiritual importance of Eid-el-Mawlid

Oyo State acting governor, Bayo Lawal, gave the charge on Thursday in Ibadan in a statement by Governor Seyi Makinde’s media aide.

He said the day could not be underestimated, “as it commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad,” and presented Muslims with an opportunity to be closer to God.

The acting governor also appreciated the Muslim Ummah in the state for their support for Mr Makinde’s administration over the last six years.

“As we all go about celebrating this Eid-el-Mawlid, let me reassure you that our government will ensure maximum security, but residents must also help us by being vigilant,” Mr Lawal stated.

Similarly, Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe called for continued prayers for peace, stability, and prosperity in Gombe State and Nigeria, describing the Maulud as a time for spiritual renewal and national solidarity.

“This celebration should deepen our faith and bring us together in prayer for unity, peace, progress, and development,” he stated.

The governor appealed to both leaders and citizens to remain committed to promoting peace, harmony, and community development.

Mr Yahaya acknowledged the socio-economic challenges facing the country but urged citizens not to lose hope, assuring them of ongoing efforts to improve livelihoods through various government programmes.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace in the state.
