The speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, has announced the appointment of Opeyemi Ajibola as the assembly clerk.

This is contained in a statement by the speaker’s media aide, Babajide Agbeyo, on Monday in Ado-Ekiti.

With the appointment, Mr Ajibola is the eighth substantive clerk of the assembly.

Mr Aribasoye said the appointment was the outcome of a rigorous selection exercise conducted among qualified senior officers of the assembly.

According to him, the process complied with Section 9(1) of the Assembly Commission Law, 2022, which empowers the speaker to appoint a clerk from among the senior management staff of the assembly.

Mr Aribasoye said Mr Ajibola succeeded Titilope Agbede, the first indigenous female clerk of the assembly, who retired on October 31, 2025, after 35 years in service.

Mr Ajibola, who served as clerk in an acting capacity from May 30, 2024, to August 20, 2024, was the deputy clerk for legal matters before his new appointment.

The speaker stated that Mr Ajibola’s appointment, which is subject to confirmation by the House, takes immediate effect.
