Ekiti Decides: Fear as heavy shootings cause panic near govt house

There was panic on Friday evening as sporadic shooting rented the air around the government house, in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital.
The shooting came less than twenty-four hours to the Ekiti state governorship election exercise.
Peoples Gazette observed that the gunshots caused anxiety among residents and motorists.
A helicopter belonging to the Nigeria Police was also sighted hovering in the sky a few minutes after the shooting.
However, a source claimed that the shooting was coming from a police station, along the old government house road in the state.
The Gazette could not immediately verify the motive for the gunshots at the time of this report.
The police authority had earlier deployed anti-riot policemen to mount strategic locations in the state for a “stop and search exercise”.
