Ekiti: Girl granted N100,000 bail for damaging N80,000 glass window, door
Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court has admitted Iliya Aliyu, 19, to N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum over charges of malicious damage.
The police arraigned Ms Aliyu on Wednesday, accusing her of damaging her landlady’s aluminium glass window and entrance door.
Prosecutor Sodiq Adeniyi told the court that the damaged properties were valued at N80,000.
He said the defendant committed the offence on July 2 at about 2:45 p.m. at Oke-Ureje area of Ado-Ekiti during a scuffle with a fellow tenant.
The offence contravenes Section 363 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2021, said the police prosecutor.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against her.
Counsel to the defendant, Olawumi Olowolafe, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that the defendant would not jump bail.
Chief Magistrate Franca Olaiya then granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum.
She, thereafter, adjourned the case till September 29 for hearing.
