Ekiti man arraigned over alleged theft of N75,000 iron rods

A 29-year-old man, Esan Tolulope, on Tuesday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 18 iron rods valued at N75,000.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 6, at about 11:45 a.m in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant stole 18 iron rods valued at N75,000 belonging to the complainant, Alfa Ismali.
According to him, the offence contravene Section 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The counsel to the defendant, Oluwafemi Alabi, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adosun, granted the defendant N50,000 bail with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until October 9 for further hearing.
