Ekiti: Two men in court over theft of electrical wires

Two men, Peter Nandrul and Sunday Boyi, appeared before a magistrates’ court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, on Friday for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing electrical wires valued at N1.6 million.
Mr Nandrul, 25, and Mr Boyi, 42, whose addresses were not provided, face two counts of housebreaking and stealing.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Yomi Osuolale, told the court that the defendants committed the offence at about 10:00 a.m. on September 8 in the Ona Owuro Itamo area of Odo-Ado in Ado-Ekiti.
Mr Osuolale alleged that the defendants broke into the house of the complainant, Omojola Ayodeji and stole the wires.
He said security guards caught the defendants and handed them over to the police.
Mr Osuolale said the offences contravened Sections 322(b) and 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the file and assemble his witnesses.
The defence counsel, Gbemisola Olowosile, urged the court to grant her clients bail, promising that they would not jump bail.
The magistrate, Olatomiwa Daramola, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until November 5 for mention.
