#EkitiDecides2026: Chaos as ADC candidate Bejide opposes vote buying at polling unit

Election was temporarily disrupted at Oke Adura Ward 2, Unit 4, Ilawe 2, Ekiti South-West Local Government Area, on Saturday as Oludare Bejide, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, opposed vote buying.
Speaking to journalists, the ADC candidate raised the alarm over vote buying, saying thugs and fake policemen harrassed his people at his polling unit at Ilawe 2 on Saturday morning.
Mr Bejide said, “They beat my driver and injured him. There is blood all over his body. They brought a large sum of money to distribute and we said no. That is the cause of the commotion. They brought in thugs, fake policemen to my polling boot. They want to make sure I don’t win my polling unit.”
He added, “My driver has been taken to the hospital. He was beaten up because he challenged them to stop distributing money.”
The ADC candidate also alleged that a presidential aide was behind the violence.
Responding to Mr Bejide’s allegation, a policeman, who identitied himself as the police commissioner, said “The assignment today is very critical. That is why you see me the commissioner of police here at your polling unit. We may not be able to entertain your complaint now. You can put your complain in writing or come to the zonal headquarters to lay a complaint.”
