The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has announced the death of his immediate elder brother, Adetunji Ogunwusi.

The monarch, in a tribute, described his immediate elder brother, as a distinguished Ile-Ife indigene, whose life was characterised by humility, integrity, entrepreneurial excellence and unwavering commitment to humanity.

The traditional ruler, who is also the permanent chairman of the Southern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), in a statement by his palace’s director of media and public affairs, Sodiq Lawal, said his brother’s demise created an irreplaceable vacuum within the Ogunwusi family, the Ojaja Royal Dynasty and the entire Ile-Ife Kingdom.

“The permanent chairman of the Southern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), Arole Oodua Olofin Adimula and the natural head of the Oduduwa race worldwide, the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has paid a heartfelt tribute to his immediate elder brother, the late Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, describing him as a distinguished son of Ile-Ife whose remarkable life was defined by humility, integrity, entrepreneurial excellence and unwavering commitment to humanity,” the statement read.

The monarch said the late prince, beyond his outstanding accomplishments in business, was a compassionate philanthropist and a dependable pillar of support to countless individuals.

He added that the late prince life quietly contributed to other people’s lives through generosity, wise counsel and selfless service.

“Today, the entire royal family mourns not only a brother and son but also a trusted confidant, a dependable pillar of our family and a man whose life reflected honour, dignity and uncommon compassion. His unwavering dedication to family values, his entrepreneurial spirit and his genuine love for humanity will forever remain a source of inspiration to us all,” the monarch said.

According to Mr Ogunwusi, the late prince consistently upheld the values of the Ojaja Royal Family through his exemplary conduct, humility and commitment to the progress of the society.

The monarch prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and for comfort for his immediate family, friends, business associates and everyone whose lives he impacted.

“Though his earthly journey has come to an end, his footprints on the sands of time can never be erased. The Ogunwusis are comforted by the fact that Prince Adetunji lived a fulfilled life dedicated to God, family, enterprise and humanity. May the Almighty Olodumare grant or give us all the strength to bear this painful loss,” he said.

Prince Ogunwusi was born on December 8, 1967 into the family of Pa John Oluropo Ogunwusi of Ojaja lineage, Giesi ruling house in Ile-Ife. He was the group chairman of Primewaterview Holdings.
