#EkitiDecides2026: INEC distributes election materials to 16 LGAs

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun distributing electoral materials to the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The distribution commenced on Thursday at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) branch along New Iyin Road in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Electoral officers received the materials as part of the commission’s final preparations for the election, in which 14 governorship candidates are expected to participate.
Security operatives, electoral officers, election observers, civil society organisations, political party representatives and other stakeholders monitored the exercise to ensure transparency and accountability.
The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Bunmi Omosehinde, earlier assured residents of a peaceful electoral process.
Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police in charge of security for the 2026 Ekiti governorship election, Abayomi Shogunle, said security operatives had been fully deployed to escort sensitive materials to all the 16 local government areas and safeguard them throughout the electoral process.
