Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s government has earmarked N6 billion for upgrading and equipping general hospitals across Kaduna in 2022.

This is contained in the 2022 budget of N278.6 billion signed into law by Mr El-Rufai on December 22.

In the document, N15.7 billion was earmarked for the health ministry as capital expenditure, out of which N7.4 billion would be expended on ongoing construction and equipping of the 300-bed specialist hospital.

It also showed that N282.9 million was allocated for the construction of isolation centres, procurement of consumables, COVID – 19 intervention and other public health emergency programmes.

The Kaduna government allocated N51.6 million to construct and renovate the standard accident and emergency unit at General Hospital Kafanchan, Saminaka, Birnin Gwari and Hajiya Gambo Sawaba General Hospital Zaria.
