Governor Ademola Adeleke’s campaign group, Imole Campaign Council, says it has started a post-election review and directed documentation of all victims of election-related violence during the Osun governorship election across the state.

In a statement on Monday, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the group’s spokesperson, said it has directed the documentation of all persons affected before and during the election in the state.

“As part of this process, the leadership has directed our structures across all local government areas of Osun state to immediately begin the documentation of every person affected by violence before, during and immediately after the election.

“This exercise must capture persons who sustained injuries, families who lost loved ones, persons whose properties were damaged or destroyed, and other identifiable victims of election-related violence,” he said.

Mr Olajengbesi said the exercise is not party-focused, noting that every victim must be documented regardless of political affiliation, party membership, or voting preference.

“Violence against any citizen diminishes us all, and no family should be forgotten simply because of their political persuasion,” he added.

He thanked the Osun electorate for the outcome of the election, saying the group recognised that their victory cannot erase the pain of families who suffered losses or injuries during the electoral process.

Mr Olajengbesi stated, “Accordingly, all local government structures have been directed to submit comprehensive and verifiable records of affected persons for further review and appropriate action. The election is over. Our common humanity must now take precedence over political differences.”

Mr Adeleke of the Accord Party won the election with 511,067 votes, while his main challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, secured 444,815 in Saturday’s election held across 30 local government areas of the state.
