Electricity Supply: TCN issues blackout alert to Abuja residents

TCN has notified residents in some parts of Abuja to expect a power outage from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has notified residents in some parts of Abuja to expect a power outage from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The TCN spokesman, Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

According to TCN, the outage is due to preventive maintenance on the transformer supplying power to Akwanga Town, Wamba, Gudi, Garaku, Nasarawa Eggon, and its environs.

“@TCN_NIGERIA hereby states that its maintenance crew will carry out a planned annual preventive maintenance on its 40MVA Transformer at Akwanga Transmission Substation on Saturday, 22nd June, 2024 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.,” said TCN.

It added, “Abuja DisCo will be unable to offtake power from the transformer for supply to Akwanga Town, Wamba, Gudi, Garaku, Nasarawa Eggon and its environ.“

TCN assured that “power supply will be restored immediately the maintenance is completed by 4.30 p.m. the same day.”

The company “regrets any inconvenience this may cause electricity consumers in the affected areas.”
