Elrufai’s associate, Jimi Lawal, picks PDP form for Ogun governorship
Special adviser to Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Investment Promotion, Jimi Lawal, has obtained the People’s Democratic Party ‘s nomination form to contest for governor in his native Ogun State.
Mr Lawal, an erstwhile All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain picked up his nomination forms on Thursday in Abuja.
The former managing director of defunct Alpha Merchant bank sought governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress in 2019 amidst twelve other aspirants.
He lost to incumbent Dapo Abiodun.
In 1996, Mr Lawal was convicted in absentia of crimes activities at the Failed Bank Tribunals.
He fled to the United States and journeyed to Netherlands and other parts of North America before returning as special adviser to then minister of the FCT, Nasir El-Rufai.
