Embrace online training, school proprietor urges teachers

The proprietor of Young Leaders Nursery and Primary School in Ilorin, Segun Abiodun, on Saturday advised teachers to enrol in online training to improve themselves.
Mr Abiodun told journalists in Ilorin that teachers must upgrade their knowledge to be more productive.
He noted that most teachers had always been waiting for physical training sponsored by governments or non-governmental organisations (NGOs) instead of going online to learn.
“Teachers should not wait for the government or NGOs to organise trainings before they explore the online opportunities.
“They should add value to themselves and upgrade their knowledge to meet global standards. When they have the digital skills, they will reflect on the students.
“Teachers are not expected to rely on what they know from years ago to teach their students. They should ensure they brace up and be modern in teaching techniques,” the school proprietor said.
He also urged teachers not to rely on their past experience alone to teach students but to strive to know more via online training.
Mr Abiodun further called on governments and education stakeholders to consistently train teachers in order to improve the education sector in the country.
