#EndSARS activist Olamide Thomas arrested for cursing Seyi Tinubu, IGP Egbetokun regains freedom after one month
#EndSARS activist Olamide Thomas, who was detained for allegedly cursing President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, has been released after meeting her bail conditions.
Ms Thomas was freed after spending almost a month in custody, enduring detention over the Christmas and New Year period.
Her lawyer, Seprebofa M. Oyeghe, confirmed her release in a Facebook post on Thursday, stating that she had been released from detention after fulfilling her “bail conditions.”
“We just departed the Suleja Custodial Centre, Suleja, with our client, Ms. Thomas,” Mr Oyeghe wrote, adding, “Today, the bail perfection process was concluded and her release warrant signed.”
According to Mr Oyeghe, Ms Thomas was charged with alleged cyberbullying of Mr Tinubu, the IGP, and the Force public relations officer (PRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
Ms Thomas was arrested on December 13, 2024, by officers of the Nigeria Police Force at her residence in Lagos before being transferred to Abuja.
