Enugu: Electricity company announces six-day power outage in Nsukka
MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited says it will carry out a planned power outage at the Transmission Company of Nigeria Station in Nsukka for maintenance repairs.
MEDL’s spokesman, Emeka Ezeh, said in a statement on Monday in Enugu that the planned power outage would run from November 5 to 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Mr Ezeh explained that the planned outage was to enable the TCN technical team to carry out maintenance work on some equipment at the station.
According to him, the exercise will affect electricity supply to the UNN, SUMAS, and Orba 33KV feeders, resulting in power interruptions for customers served by these feeders during the stated period.
“The areas affected by this outage include Ukopi, Opi-Agu, Eha-Alumona, Orba Town, Obollo-Afor, parts of Obollo-Eke, Enugu Ezike, Ibagwa, Nkalagu, Obukpa, Okpaligbo, Iheaka, Edem Ani, Agbani, Uzo-Uwani, Obimo, Nkpologu, and Lejja.
“Other areas include Nguru, Aku, Ogbede and surrounding communities, as well as Odim Gate, Nkpor, UNN, Nru, Ede Oballa, El Tabera Estate, Ikenga Estate, Wilson Company, Umakashi, Isiakpu, G.R.A., and Ogige Main Market,” he said.
Mr Ezeh said MEDL regretted any inconvenience the planned outage might cause residents and its esteemed customers, and appealed for their patience and understanding.
“The exercise is necessary to facilitate essential technical work aimed at improving the reliability and quality of electricity supply to customers,” he added.
