Enugu: Nollywood stages victory match for Governor-elect Mbah
Nollywood, on Thursday, staged a victory football match in celebration of Enugu Governor-elect Peter Mbah and Deputy Governor-elect Ifeanyi Ossai in the March 18 Enugu governorship election.
The novelty match, organised by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), is tagged ‘Peter Mbah/Ossai victory match’ between Nollywood and Boolu Ogbe Ambassadors – a Coal City Football team – held at Rangers Training Field, Liberty Estate, Enugu.
The two teams played a draw after 90 minutes, but the Boolu Ogbe Ambassadors team finally won the match by 4-2 in a penalty shootout.
Speaking during the second half, the AGN chairman, Enugu chapter, Brown Ene, said the essence of the match was to celebrate Mbah, as well as a way of appreciating his great plan for the creative industry in Enugu.
He stated that the guild had, before the election visited the governor-elect, who promised them so many things that would change the face of Nollywood in Enugu.
“So, we have no option than to support him, having seen what he has in mind for us. We also felt there was a need to celebrate this victory. The match is just the beginning of what AGN, Enugu, Nollywood and the creative industry will do for this government,” Mr Ene said.
