Enyimba pip visiting Bayelsa United 1-0 in Aba

Enyimba International FC of Aba on Sunday piped visiting Bayelsa United 1-0 in one of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 24 encounters played in Aba.
The only goal of the match came from Samuel Agu in the 82nd minute to send the fans into wide jubilation and ensure victory for the host.
Enyimba FC coach, Deji Ayeni, said he expected a tough match going by the teams long time rivalry and the importance of the match to both clubs.
He said that Bayelsa United fustrated his team knowing what they were going through.
“Though, we are happy that we won the match and that is what we need, to boost our morale but I give it to Bayelsa United goalkeeper,” Mr Ayeni said.
Mr Ayeni said the visiting goalkeeper was the reason his team left it late to victory and wish the goalkeeper continued in that line so that “he will be a big access to the country national team.”
Bayelsa United head coach Meremu Okara said he felt disappointed with the loss considering how the goal was conceded, after withstanding the host for lengthy period.
He said, “The players played well but that one minute loss of concentration cost us the match, though we have our chances but we were in a hurry to score, and that put us under pressure which resulted in the loss of concentration.”
Despite the victory, Enyimba FC still remained in 11th place with 31 points, while Bayelsa United occupy the 14th position on the league table with 28 points after 24 matches.
