EPL: Arsenal bomb West Ham; Brentford lash Leicester City 4-1

Arsenal moved second on the league standings after the Gunners secured a dominant 5-2 away win against West Ham United in their Premier League tie at the London Stadium on Saturday.
It was a game of one eventful half, with all seven goals coming in the first half, but neither of the two teams managed to score again in the second half, as Arsenal now sit six points behind leaders Liverpool.
Ten minutes into the game, Arsenal took the lead through Gabriel, who headed home from a routine corner kick by Bukayo Saka. The winger provided a second assist for Leandro Trossard in the 27th minute, enabling Arsenal to double the advantage.
In the 34th minute, Arsenal went three-nil up through Martin Odegaard, who scored from the spot before Kai Havertz added Arsenal’s fourth goal two minutes later with Trossard’s assistance.
West Ham quickly halved the deficit within two minutes after Aaron Wan-Bissaka pulled one back for the visitors in the 38th minute with an easy finish inside the box before Emerson’s curled freekick dropped into the net in the 40th minute to make it 4-2.
Arsenal quickly put an end to any hope the visitors might have had of making a comeback in game when Saka netted his penalty just before halftime to complete the seven-goal thriller win.
Liverpool and Manchester City face off on Sunday, and anything less than a win for the struggling Pep Guardiola’s team will see the Gunners maintain their current position on the table.
In the other Premier League matches played on Saturday, Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first game as Leicester City’s new manager could have gone more badly as they were trashed 4-1 by Brentford.
Bournemouth defeated Wolves 4-2 at home, Nottingham Forest piped Ipswich 1-0, while Crystal Palace and Newcastle United settled for a one-all draw at Selhurst Park Stadium.
Full results for Saturday:
West Ham United 2 vs 5 Arsenal
Crystal Palace 1 vs 1 Newcastle United
Nottingham Forest 1 vs 0 Ipswich
Wolves 2 vs 5 Bournemouth
Brentford 4 vs 1 Leicester City
