EPL: Arsenal remain top despite 3-2 loss to Manchester United

After their victory over Manchester City last week, Manchester United on Sunday secured their second consecutive victory against Arsenal.
Arsenal took the lead in the 29th minute, with an own goal by Lizandro Martinez, before Bryan Mbeumo in the 37th minute, drew level by pouncing on a mistake by Martin Zubimendi.
Five minutes into the second half, Patrick Dorgu helped the Red Devils regain the lead with a wonder strike but Mikel Merino helped the Gunners draw level again in the 84th minute.
However, Matheus Cunha sealed the victory for Manchester United with another strike in the 87th minute, to end the match 3-2, earning the interim manager, Michael Carrick, his second-ever victory over an Arteta’s side, the first was in December 2021. But it was his only victory during his short stint at the time.
Despite the defeat, Arsenal retain top spot with a four point lead over second placed Manchester City. Aston Villa in one of the earlier fixtures of the day, slipped from second to third after losing 2-0 to Newcastle United at the St. James’ Park.
Other Match Day 32 fixtures, witnessed Brentford lose 2-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium to visiting Nottingham Forest while Chelsea secured a 3-1 victory against Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park, to rise to fifth on the table.
