EPL: Chelsea resurgence continues with impressive away win at Leicester City

Chelsea have made it three wins from three games across all competitions as their season’s resurgence continues with a 3-1 away win over Kelechi Iheanacho’s Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
The Nigeria international played 75 minutes but his contributions couldn’t help his team avoid defeat by The Blues before being replaced by former England international Jamie Vardy.
Former Leicester City player Ben Chilwell opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 11th minute and went on to jubilate in front of the Foxes fans, who subjected the England international to loud boos for the entirety of the game.
In the 24th minute, Chelsea came close to doubling their lead through on loan Joao Felix but the chipped ball from the Portuguese over Danny Ward narrowly struck the post before Leicester City replicated the same two minutes apart from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall deflected shot.
The Blues found the back of the net for the second time. In the 34th minute, Joao Felix tapped Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s cross into the net but was ruled out for an offside before Patson Daka fired a thunderous shot past Kepa Arrizabalaga to equalise for the hosts.
Kepa prevented Leicester City from taking the lead moments away from the halftime whistle, pulling off two incredible saves to deny James Maddison and Iheanacho’s efforts before Kai Havertz restored Chelsea’s lead thanks to a wonderful chipped assist from Enzo Fernandez.
Less than 60 seconds into the second half, Danny Ward was called to action when former Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana tested the Welsh international with a header from a corner but was parried away by the goalkeeper.
Despite several attempts from both sides for another goal, with one searching for an equaliser while the other was trying to extend their lead, both teams were unable to put the ball into the net until the cusp of the match.
Matteo Kovacic, however, sealed the victory for Chelsea with his 78th minute strike when the Croatian international fired Mykhaylo Mudryk’s header past Ward.
The Blues remain 10th on the league table, a familiar position in recent weeks which has earned them the ‘consistenth’ nickname from rival fans.
Meanwhile, Leicester City are 16th on the table, and will be without one of their main players for one match, Wout Faes, after the Belgian defender was sent off in the closing minutes following a dangerous challenge on Carney Chukwuemeka.
