Newcastle extended their unbeaten run as Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa scored in the Magpies’ 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur, as they suffered their second league defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Magpies opened the scoring with a fine goal from Elanga in the 62nd minute following an assist from Amar Dedic.

The goal makes the Swedish winger the first player to score in Newcastle’s opening two games of a season since Alan Shearer in the 2003/2004 season.

Wissa doubled the advantage for Newcastle to make it 2-0, firing a well-finished strike thanks to an assist from Nick Woltemade off the bench to seal the three points for his side.

The result marked a disappointing start for Roberto De Zerbi’s side in the new campaign following their 4-1 defeat to Brentford in their league opener, despite the number of signings the club made during the summer transfer window.

Newcastle prepare as they face Bournemouth next weekend, while Spurs regroup as they travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest.

Elsewhere in Saturday’s Premier League fixtures, Hull City secured their second league win courtesy of a late winner from Liam Millar.

At Anfield, Liverpool drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest, while Everton salvaged a point in their 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, thanks to James Tarkowski’s stoppage-time winner.
