EPL: Man City, Liverpool win; Chelsea draw Newcastle

Premier League weekend action returned as Manchester City brushed aside West Ham 3–0 at the Etihad, Liverpool bounced back to winning ways with a 2–1 victory over Spurs, while Chelsea endured a frustrating draw with Newcastle.
Manchester City hosted the Hammers, with Erling Haaland opening the scoring just five minutes into the game and adding his second shortly after the break. City completed the win with a goal from Tijjani Reijnders, assisted by Haaland. It was a difficult outing for Espírito’s side, who struggled to gain an attacking foothold against the hosts. The match also saw Haaland reach 200 goal involvements in Europe’s top five leagues and take his Premier League tally to 19 goals.
Chelsea survived a difficult outing at St James’ Park as Woltamade redeemed himself after scoring an own goal last week by netting a first-half brace for Newcastle. With the Magpies’ wingers causing problems down the flanks, Chelsea responded after half-time through an incredible free-kick from Reece James. Sustained pressure from the Blues then paid off as João Pedro equalised with a well-weighted pass from Sánchez. Newcastle have now dropped 13 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season and have gone 10 top-flight matches without a clean sheet for the first time under Eddie Howe. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca will be disappointed, but his side showed improved spirit after a poor first half. Newcastle next face Manchester United away, while Chelsea host Aston Villa next Saturday.
In north London, Liverpool bounced back to claim a third consecutive Premier League win with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Tottenham. Spurs were reduced to nine men, with Xavi Simons sent off for fouling Virgil van Dijk before Cristian Romero received a second yellow card. The first half ended level, but the game came to life after the break. Substitute Alexander Isak made an immediate impact before being forced off injured, while Ekitiké later sealed the win with a decisive strike. Tottenham pushed late on and pulled one back through Richarlison in the dying minutes, but it was not enough to avoid defeat. Spurs remain 13th in the table, increasing pressure on Thomas Frank ahead of a difficult away trip to Crystal Palace. Liverpool will look to build momentum when they host Wolves next weekend.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Wolves suffered another defeat at the hands of Brentford to remain bottom of the table, while Bournemouth shared the points with Burnley.
