EPL: Odegaard inspires comeback as Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1

Defending Premier League champions Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 as Martin Odegaard inspires a comeback victory at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, extending their impressive start to the new campaign.
Xabi Alonso’s side shocked the Gunners, taking the lead in just 77 seconds with a goal from Morgan Rogers, firing in an excellent volley of a clean header from Jorrel Hato.
Rogers’ goal makes him the first player to score or assist in each of the club’s first three league games of a season since Eden Hazard in the 18/19 season.
Arsenal responded in the 11th minute with a goal from Riccardo Calafiori, but it was ruled out by VAR, leaving the early lead for the Blues.
The hosts later equalised in the 25th minute to make it 1-1, off an effort by Kai Havertz following a delivery from Declan Rice.
Before the interval, Chelsea were presented with several opportunities, including a shot that struck the post from Pedro Neto.
The Gunners increased their advantage in the 50th minute as Christos Tzolis made a smooth through pass, allowing Odegaard to finish perfectly in front of goal.
The victory keeps Mikel Arteta’s impressive start to the season and title defence intact as they join Manchester City with three wins in their new campaign.
Arsenal regroup as they travel to Naples to face Napoli on Thursday in their first Champions League phase clash.
Elsewhere in Sunday’s Premier League action, Everton snatched a stoppage-time 2-2 draw against Manchester United thanks to a stunner from Ainsley Maitland-Niles, scoring off the bench in his debut for the club.
