EPL: Tuchel defeats Guardiola again as Chelsea halt City’s title confirmation

Chelsea has defeated Manchester City 2-1 in their premier league fixture to delay the trophy triumph of the Etihad team.

Raheem Sterling scored in the 43rd minute of the first half after Andreas Christensen miscued a City cross, pulling his hastening in the process. He was withdrawn afterwards following the injury.

Kun Aguero failed to extend the Citizens lead when he missed from the penalty spot and youngster Billy Gilmour fouled Gabriel Jesus in the box. His lobbed dink was easily collected by the calm Chelsea goalie Edouard Mendy.

Chelsea’s Timo Werner had two of his goals ruled out for offside.

Hakim Ziyech however made it count in the 63rd minute after receiving a perfect square play from Reece James, putting the ball past Ederson in the low corner to bring the Blues level.

Hudson-Odoi also had his 83rd minute goal ruled out for an offside as it appeared it was not going to be the London team’s day.

Marcos Alonso however secured Chelsea win just before regulation time with a fine shot after Werner laid a square pass through the centre of the box.

Chlesea will now move to the third position in the league edging Leicester with one point while Manchester City will wait till next week to cement and claim their Premier League trophy.

This result will put Chelsea on a better motivation as both teams will clash again in the UEFA Champions League Final in Istanbul on 29th of May.
