Eshua, Ofem elected into Nigeria’s Cricket Federation board
Joseph Eshua and Endurance Ofem have both secured tickets into the board of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) as coaches/umpires and athletes representatives respectively.
The duo obtained the slots on Tuesday at the ongoing 2021 National Sports Federations elections in Abuja.
Mr Eshua defeated the immediate-past coaches/umpires representative, Enesi Dahiru, scoring 18 votes from the 32 accredited voters, with Mr Dahiru obtaining 12.
On his part, Mr Ofem returned to his previous position on the board with 19 votes leaving Ayo Mene-Ejegi with 9 votes, from the 28 accredited voters.
After the contest, Mr Ofem who appreciated the delegates for their support said he had two things in mind while vying for the position.
“For 19 states to say that they still want you means that there’s plenty of responsibilities for you to take on.
“I am returning to the board for two reasons; It is time for us to finalise contracts, especially for the national team players.
“The second is to make sure that we have quality facilities for players to play the game of cricket,” Mr Ofem said.
On his part, Mr Eshua, who now becomes the technical director of the NCF, said he was ready to seek the improvement of umpires and coaches via training courses and more.
