Estate agent arraigned over alleged N85,000 fraud

A 55-year-old man, Musibau Adedokun, on Wednesday, stood before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, to answer charges bordering on alleged N85,000 fraud.
Adedokun, an estate agent, is standing trial on charges of obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty the charges.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 22, at the Odo-Oba area of Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant obtained the sum of N85,000 from one Mustapha Kazeem, with a promise to help him secure rentage of an apartment.
He alleged that the defendant failed to secure the apartment, but bolted with the money.
The prosecutor said that the defendant was however, eventually arrested by the police and charged to court.
He said that the offence contravenes the provisions of sessions 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until January 5, for hearing. (NAN)
