Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe and chairman of the Niger Council of Traditional Rulers, has called for sustained national peace, unity, and a lasting spirit of Ramadan.

He urged positive development as Muslims end the Ramadan fast on Thursday after 30 days of fasting.

Mr Abubakar felicitated with the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan and warmly congratulated them on the occasion of Eid el-Fitr celebration.

Mr Abubakar made the appeal while addressing his community shortly after the two Raka’at prayers at the Eid praying ground in Bida, Bida LGA, on Friday. He described the period as one of deep reflection, sacrifice, and renewed devotion to God.

He admonished Muslims to continue upholding the virtues they had imbibed during the holy month, including piety, love, charity, discipline, and compassion, stressing that these values were essential for personal growth and societal harmony.

Besides, the Etsu Nupe urged the Muslims to refrain from returning to bad acts and behaviours they abstained from during Ramadan.

Mr Abubakar appealed to Nigerians to intensify prayers for peace, unity, and the country’s progress, noting that peace remains a veritable foundation for meaningful development.

Mr Abubakar also urged Nigerians to remain law-abiding, united, and to shun all forms of violence and actions capable of disrupting the peaceful coexistence of the society.

The traditional ruler used the occasion to appeal to well-to-do Muslims in society to continue supporting the less privileged to alleviate their suffering.

The Etsu Nupe also urged wealthy individuals in the country to assist the less privileged to enable all and sundry to celebrate the Eid el-Fitr joyfully.

He advised Muslims to continue to pray for their leaders to overcome the current challenges bedevilling Nigeria.

On education, he charged the people of his domain to send their children to school to acquire both Western and Islamic knowledge.

Highlighting the importance of family values, the Etsu Nupe advised parents to take full responsibility for the proper upbringing of their children, emphasising the need to instil moral discipline and sound values that would guide them to become responsible members of society.
