EU condemns Russian drone incursion as ‘intentional violation’

There were indications of a planned action by Moscow following the incursion of Russian drones into Polish airspace, the EU’s foreign affairs representative, Kaja Kallas, said on Wednesday.
“Last night in Poland, we saw the most serious European airspace violation by Russia since the war began, and indications suggest it was intentional, not accidental,” Ms Kallas stated.
She confirmed she had been in contact with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte and Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.
“The EU stands in full solidarity with Poland,” she added.
In response to the developments, Ms Kallas urged that the costs of the war for Moscow should be further increased.
She also called for stronger support for Ukraine and greater investment in Europe’s defence capabilities. “Russia’s war is escalating, not ending,” said the former Prime Minister of Estonia.
Polish Air Force aircraft shot down the drones overnight, and Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz described the incident as a serious provocation.
The search for debris is currently ongoing.
