Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer, defender Timo Baumgartl and winger Tim Maciejewski have tested positive for COVID-19.

• October 4, 2022

Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer, defender Timo Baumgartl and winger Tim Maciejewski have tested positive for COVID-19, the Bundesliga leaders said on Tuesday.

Union Berlin said Fischer would miss the 2022/2023 Europa League game against Malmö on Thursday.

The German side added that all other players and members of the coaching staff tested negative.

While Baumgartl is not registered to play in the Europa League, Maciejewski has not been in the squad in the Bundesliga season.

He was only on the bench against Braga last month.

Union Berlin are third in their Europa League Group D and have yet to secure a point in the competition.
