The Metropolitan Police have dismissed without notice an officer, Idominik Efeotor, attached to its Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, for repeatedly breaching its policies relating to social media.

The Metropolitan Police, in a statement, said Mr Efeotor was found guilty of violating the Standards of Professional Behaviour on several occasions between 2024 and 2026, during which he made social media posts found to be offensive, insulting and derogatory towards other officers, staff and individuals, as well as discussing sensitive information.

The statement read, “An officer who repeatedly breached Met policies relating to social media has been dismissed. PC Idominik Efeotor, based within the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, faced a number of allegations around his behaviour on public platforms, all of which were found proven.

“At an accelerated misconduct hearing on Monday, 14 September, the panel heard that between 2024 and 2026, PC Efeotor published his own podcast episodes and social media content in which he identified himself as a serving officer. His posts included offensive, insulting and derogatory language towards other officers, staff and individuals, as well as discussing sensitive information relating to misconduct proceedings.

“He also published material which could have led to the identification of an officer who was the subject of an anonymity direction. PC Efeotor had disclosed his podcast as a business interest, but permission was later withdrawn. Despite this, he continued to publish episodes and linked social media content, even after repeated warnings.

“His actions amounted to a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of discreditable conduct, orders and instructions, authority, respect and courtesy and confidentiality – and he was dismissed without notice.”

Speaking on Mr Efeotor’s dismissal, Commander Adam Slonecki, head of Specialist Operations, said his values were so far removed from what was expected, adding that his behaviour undermined public confidence in the Met Police and had a negative impact on his colleagues and others.

Mr Slonecki said, “Our officers can be in no doubt as to how they are expected to act on social media, and it is clear that PC Efeotor breached these standards on many occasions and despite repeated warnings.

“Not only does behaviour like this undermine public confidence in the Met, but it had a harmful and lasting impact on those he openly criticised, as well as the rest of his colleagues.

“There is no place in policing for anyone whose values are so far removed from what we would expect, and it is right he has been dismissed from the organisation.”

According to the Met Police, Mr Efeotor will now be placed on the College of Policing Barred List to prevent him from working as a police officer in the future.
