Ex-MAN chairman expresses concern over IBEDC workers’ strike
Wale Adegbite, a former chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Ogun chapter, has expressed concern over the industrial action of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) workers.
Mr Adegbite said on Friday in Ota that the development would disrupt production by manufacturers.
He explained that manufacturers would have no choice but to use generators, which cost a lot and increased the cost of production.
“We need more competition in the provision of electricity to provide better service to consumers,” he said.
The ex-MAN chairman appealed to the federal government to totally privatise the power sector so that Nigerians could have a reliable power supply across the country.
The staff of IBEDC on Thursday began an indefinite strike in Ogun, demanding the implementation of the new minimum wage, remittance of pensions, and cooperative deductions.
