Ex-Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter ‘Dodomayana’ Rufai, is dead.

He died at the age of 61. Details of his demise are still unknown.

The news of Dodomayana’s demise was confirmed in a post on the Super Eagles’ official X page on Thursday.

“We mourn the passing of legendary Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, a giant of Nigerian football and  1994 AFCON champion,” the Super Eagles said.

Dodomayana started his professional career with Stationery Stores in 1980.

The legendary keeper had 65 caps for the Super Eagles, manning the goalpost for Nigeria in two FIFA World Cups in 1994 and 1998.
