FAAN MD commended for revenue diversification plan

The managing director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Olubunmi Kuku, has been commended for her vision and determination to boost the hospitality sub-sector of the aviation industry.
The president of the Airport Fire and Safety Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Saheed Sadiq, gave a commendation while speaking with aviation correspondents in Lagos on Sunday.
AFSMCS owns the Firecoop Aviators’ Lodge on the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road, Ikeja.
Mr Sadiq said the facility had enjoyed Mr Kuku’s interventions, adding that she ensured the lodge enjoyed a regular power supply.
“The role the MD of FAAN has played in the whole of this investment cannot be overemphasised. The energy we are consuming here today is courtesy of FAAN, and we remain grateful to the management for the laudable support,” he said.
He, however, solicited the support of the agency and other aviation industry stakeholders’ support in completing the lodge’s furnishing.
“We appeal that they support us in furnishing the new wing of 24 rooms as we have completed the structure itself. Due to the fluctuating price of things, to completely furnish this facility, we need nothing less than N250 million.
“The management can also help liaise with the local government and Lagos State Government to help fix the road,” Mr Sadiq said.
Mr Kuku said that boosting hospitality infrastructure around Nigeria’s airports was pivotal to ensuring passengers’ safety, comfort, and timely arrival at the airports for travel.
NAN also reports that the new wing of 24 rooms was inaugurated recently.
