FAAN to close airport runways for three months

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has shut down runway operations at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA) to install an airfield lighting system.
The Aeronautical Information Services of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency announced the shutdown, stating that the runway would be temporarily closed from midnight July 8 to September 8.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, it mentioned that flight activities would not be disrupted despite the upcoming project stressing that all flight operations would continue on the runway.
It also disclosed that the installations included fixing the approach lights and runway lights (threshold, centerline, edge lights) for runway 18L/36R to start swift operations on the runway for the convenience of flight boarders.
In 2008, FAAN assured Nigerians that it would fix the runway light, but that did not happen.
