FARMFATECH expo will boost Nigeria, China’s agric partnership: ACCI

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has said the forthcoming Farm, Food and Allied Technology (FARMFATECH) Expo will boost collaboration between Federal Government, China and other stakeholders to promote agriculture.
The ACCI President, Emeka Obegolu, said this while briefing journalists in Abuja on Friday.
Mr Obegolu, represented by the Director-General of the ACCI, Agabaidu Jideani, said that the theme of the forthcoming expo was “New Agro Technologies for Shared Prosperity.”
He said that the aim was to promote innovation and investment in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
According to him, the three-day event, scheduled to hold between November 10 and 12 would bring together more than 500 exhibitors, 76 participating countries and about 500,000 visitors.
He said that the expo, organised in collaboration with Autodex Nigeria Ltd, Afreximbank and other partners would focus on advancing agricultural technology, food processing solutions and value chain innovation.
“The expo will strengthen cooperation between Nigeria, China and other global partners in promoting agricultural sustainability. It will serve as a platform for stakeholders to explore investment opportunities, forge partnerships and stimulate business growth in the agricultural sector,” he said.
Mr Obegolu said that the chamber, through its 16 sector-based trade groups, especially the Agriculture Trade Group, remained committed to initiatives that support productivity, food security and employment generation.
He said the ACCI would continue to drive innovation and capacity development across sectors.
“The agricultural sector remains a vital pillar of Nigeria’s economy and a major contributor to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) through our Agriculture Trade Group. We will continue to champion the interests of farmers, agribusinesses and investors,” he said.
Managing Director, Autodex Nigeria Ltd. Tony Ifeakandu, said that the company’s role was to empower farmers with machinery and clean-energy mobility solutions.
“Nigerian farmers are hardworking and capable and we will continue to empower them. Together at FARMFATECH, the Chamber and key industry partners, we are advancing a future where contract farming, improved seed systems and good agricultural practice are supported by world-class technology.
“Our mission is to equip farmers to produce more, move faster, and earn better because a food-secure Nigeria must be powered by innovation,” he said.
