FBI declares man wanted over $1 million jewellery theft

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has declared a man, Alberto Perez-Elias, wanted for his involvement in the robbery of a jewellery store and theft of jewellery worth over $1 million.
The FBI, in a statement on Thursday, said: “Alberto Perez-Elias is wanted for his alleged involvement in the robbery of a jewellery store in Cape Coral, Florida, on January 6, 2026.”
According to the FBI, Mr Perez-Elias and others broke into the vacant business next door to the jewellery store, broke through the wall into the store, and held the manager at gunpoint.
The suspects gained access to a safe and took thousands of pieces of jewellery worth over $1 million.
Last month, a U.S. court issued Mr Perez-Elias’s arrest warrant after he was charged with robbery, use of a firearm, and other charges.
“On June 24, 2026, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Perez-Elias in the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, Fort Myers, Florida,” the FBI said.
Mr Perez-Elias was charged with conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, interference with commerce by robbery, and use of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
