The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has offered a $50,000 reward for whoever is able to provide information that would lead to the arrest of fugitive Joseph Matos over the murder of a National Guard official, Chrys Carvajal.

The FBI said Mr Matos was declared wanted for his role in the murder of Mr Carvajal in 2021.

“The FBI offers a reward of up to $50,000 for info leading to the arrest and conviction of Joseph Matos, wanted for his alleged involvement in the murder of a National Guard member in Chicago, Illinois, on July 3, 2021,” the FBI said on Friday.

The bureau said it increased the reward for informants, “nearly five years after 19-year-old Chrys Carvajal was gunned down in a senseless act of gang violence.”

The FBI said it “is renewing its call for justice with an increased reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of fugitive Joseph Matos.”
