FBI places $10 million bounty on drug baron Yulan Carias

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has offered a $10 million reward for anyone providing information leading to the arrest of fugitive drug baron Yulan Adonay Archaga Carias, aka ‘Porky’.
The FBI announced the reward for information leading to the arrest of Mr Carias, one of its most wanted fugitives, in a statement on Thursday.
“The FBI is now offering a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitive Yulan Adonay Archaga Carias aka ‘Porky’,” the statement said.
Mr Carias, a leader of Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) in Honduras, has been charged in the Southern District of New York with “racketeering conspiracy, possession of machine guns, and cocaine importation conspiracy”.
The Honduran drug baron is wanted for, among other crimes, facilitating the transportation of multi-ton loads of cocaine through Honduras into the U.S.
The FBI also alleged he was responsible for ordering and participating in the murder of several rival gang members and others associated with MS-13.
“In August 2018, a Honduran tribunal convicted Porky of conspiracy and other charges and sentenced him to a lengthy prison sentence. He violently escaped from Honduran custody in February 2020 when approximately 20 armed gunmen in police and military uniforms stormed a courthouse where Porky was scheduled for a hearing,” the FBI said.
