The Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, Adamawa State, has matriculated 934 students under the dual mandate programme, independently and without any affiliation to universities within the country.

The college Provost, Dr Mohammed Degereji, disclosed this at the matriculation for the 2025/2026 academic session held on Friday in Yola.

The provost, represented by his deputy, Aishatu Khadiri, assured that the college had the academic capability and institutional proficiency to cultivate and develop employable graduates in Nigeria and globally.

Mr Degereji stated, “Today signifies a remarkable milestone in the history of this institution, 52 years post-establishment. It is with great pride that I convey to this gathering that the FCE, Yola, is now enrolling its own degree students under the Dual Mandate Programme, independently and without any affiliation to universities within the country.

“We have welcomed 934 students into the Directorate of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) across various schools. These students represent the inaugural cohort to be admitted under the Dual Mandate Programme of the Colleges of Education.”

Mr Degereji urged the students be committed to their academic endeavours and to conduct themselves in a manner that would bring honour to the institution.

He warned the students against examination malpractice, cultism and inappropriate dressing.

He said such behaviour would not be accepted, adding that any student found in breach of the college’s rules and regulations would face appropriate consequences.

“You must also recognise that by participating in this ceremony, you have entered into a binding agreement with the college and have formally committed to adhering to its rules and regulations.

“In turn, the college management takes full responsibility for equipping you with rigorous academic training, sound mentorship, and the moral guidance essential for shaping you into exemplary role models and responsible citizens,’’he said.

One of the new students, Amina Abdullahi, who spoke on behalf of others, expressed gratitude to the management of the college for finding them worthy of the admission and promised be of good behaviour.

She said the opportunity would help them to contribute to change society positively.
