The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting digital learning in public schools across the territory.

The FCT Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud, made the commitment in Abuja on Friday during the official handover of 600 tablet computers to 12 secondary schools, which MTN donated.

Ms Mahmoud, represented by her special assistant on technical matters, Michael Bawa, commended MTN Nigeria for their commitment to corporate social responsibility and their continued partnership with the government.

She said the donation came at a critical moment when the FCT Administration was intensifying efforts to strengthen its educational system.

The minister added that efforts were also ongoing to equip students with essential digital tools needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.

“The provision of these tablets was more than technology distribution; it was a direct investment in the potential of children, digital inclusion, and national development.

“The MTN’s support aligns perfectly with the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises access to quality education and digital empowerment nationwide,” she said.

Ms Mahmoud further reaffirmed the administration’s full commitment to creating an enabling environment for teaching and learning in all public schools.

According to her, education remains one of the most powerful instruments for shaping the future of any society.

The Mandate Secretary of the FCT Education Secretariat, Danlami Hayyo, represented by the Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Kolawole Olabashola, also commended MTN for its commitment to bridging the digital divide.

“This initiative will undoubtedly propel our schools to compete favourably with their global counterparts,” he added.

In his remarks, Ernest Ndukwe, the chairman of the MTN Board, noted that the gesture aimed to enhance digital education nationwide.

He added that, in line with its national vision, MTN Nigeria has procured 4,600 digital learning tablets, which are being distributed to public secondary schools nationwide.
