FCTIRS workers shut down Garki HQ over poor salary, delayed promotion

Hordes of Federal Captital Territory Inland Revenue Service employees on Wednesday protested at the FCT-IRS headquarters in Garki Area 8, demanding salary review and promotion.

Hordes of Federal Captital Territory Inland Revenue Service employees on Wednesday protested at the FCT-IRS headquarters in Garki Area 8, demanding salary review and promotion.

Converging at FCT-IRS Headquarters in Garki, they lamented poor remuneration, no promotion and other work benefits for staff, demanding that their request be met.

Speaking for the protesters, Musa Kabiru Azara, said FCTIRS management “must do the needful and meet their now”.

“We want justice now. Workers united cannot be defeated,” Mr Azara said as other protesters chanted.

Some of their demands inscribed on a large banner held by protesting staff include: salary review, implementation of promotions, improved staff welfare and working conditions.

The protesters also held placards with inscriptions like ‘No master-slave relationship’, ‘No salary review policy has ever been effected since 2021’ and ‘Monkey dey work baboon dey chop’.
